How it works

  1. Have a free chat.Tell a lawyer what’s going on, by call or email. You’ll know if we can help and what it costs.
  2. Appoint Kemba.Accept our engagement letter online, which sets out what your lawyer will do and what it costs, and confirm your ID. Your lawyer starts from there.
  3. Your lawyer gets it done. They read the agreement, run your conditions and settle your purchase.
Who does the work

Your own lawyer, start to finish.

Tim Grace, Director, Point Legal, smilingTim Grace, leads Point Legal

Every Kemba client gets their own lawyer from Point Legal, a New Zealand law firm with an audited trust account and professional indemnity insurance. It’s the same person from your first conversation to the day it’s done, and you can call or message them whenever something’s on your mind.

Point Legal is led by Tim Grace, who has spent fifteen years advising homeowners, business owners and investors.

“When you let a lawyer into one of the big moments of your life, that is not something to take for granted. My job is to see you and your situation clearly, and then get it done.”

If you’re buying

Get the contract checked before you sign.

Most people find a lawyer after they’ve signed, which is too late to change anything. Send it over, even unsigned, and a lawyer talks you through what to look out for. It’s free, and nothing here signs you up to anything.

“Buying our first home was a big step for our family. The KiwiSaver, bank and paperwork could have been overwhelming, but every question was answered clearly and we always knew the next step. We felt looked after all the way to getting the keys.”

“Our purchase got complicated fast. The price changed, settlement moved, and two banks had to line up. We could ask questions as they came up and always knew what needed to happen next. It all settled smoothly on the day.”

If you’re buying: one fee, even if a deal falls through.

Things don’t always go to plan. Finance falls over, a building report comes back dodgy, someone changes their mind.

Once you’ve signed our engagement letter, you pay our fee once, when you settle. If a purchase falls through, we don’t charge you for the work we’ve done. When you find your next place, we pick your file back up and carry on. That covers you for twelve months, one purchase at a time. This one’s for buyers. Full terms are in the engagement letter.
